Naval Group and Oresund Drydocks Sign Maintenance Deal

Naval Group and Swedish shipyard Oresund Drydocks have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a Partnership Cooperation Agreement to develop a local frigate maintenance facility in Sweden.

The agreement was signed on 2 February 2026 during the stopover of the FDI frigate Amiral Ronarc’h in Sweden. The ceremony took place in the presence of Jonas Hansson, Chairman of Oresund Drydocks, Anders Larsson, Board member of Oresund Drydocks, and Guillaume Weisrock, Naval Group’s VP for Sales and Business Development for Europe and North America.

Under the agreement, the two companies intend to establish maintenance and service support capabilities in Sweden for the Defence and Intervention Frigate surface combatant, which Naval Group is offering to the Swedish Navy. Naval Group has stated that the first delivery of an FDI frigate to Sweden could be achieved as early as 2030, supported by its established through life support capabilities.

Fleet Availability

Through the partnership with Oresund Drydocks, Naval Group aims to optimise fleet availability and ensure long term sustainability of the platform, while facilitating knowledge and technology transfer to the Swedish industrial base.

The MoU forms part of Naval Group’s broader ambition to strengthen Sweden’s defence industry. The company highlighted Sweden’s strong industrial base and expertise in advanced naval solutions, stating its intention to expand its presence through industrial partnerships that create value for the defence and maritime sectors and support the evolving requirements of the Swedish Navy.

Shared Ambition

“This agreement reflects our shared ambition to drive innovation through cooperation. Oresund Drydocks’ expertise make them a natural partner as we deepen our engagement in Sweden. Beyond creating high-value jobs, this partnership also strengthens Sweden’s strategic sovereignty throughout the FDI fleet’s operational life,” says Guillaume Weisrock, Naval Group’s VP for Sales and Business Development for Europe and North America.

“We see Naval Group as a strategic partner. Our unique facilities in the heart of the Öresund region, combined with our extensive technical and human resources, allow us to deliver efficient, comprehensive solutions for ship repairs, maintenance, and modernization, creating real value for our customers.” said Anders Larsson, Oresund DryDocks AB.
