Iran Denies Reports of Renewed Negotiations With United States

Iran has dismissed reports that it is engaged in negotiations with the United States, with officials insisting no direct talks are currently taking place despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.

Iran has rejected reports suggesting it has resumed negotiations with the United States, stating that no discussions are currently underway between the two countries.

Speaking during a weekly press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran is “not engaged in any negotiations with the United States at present,” dismissing speculation that Iran had requested renewed talks with Washington.

The comments come amid continued international efforts to reduce tensions following months of conflict between Iran, the United States and regional allies. While indirect diplomatic channels remain active through mediators, Tehran maintains that no formal bilateral negotiations are taking place.

Diplomatic channels remain open

Although Iran has ruled out current negotiations with Washington, regional mediators including Oman and Qatar continue efforts to encourage dialogue aimed at reducing tensions and addressing wider security concerns.

Recent reports indicate that indirect communications have continued through third parties, with discussions focusing on regional stability, maritime security and the future of the Strait of Hormuz. However, no breakthrough has been announced, and significant differences remain over Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions.

Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that any future diplomatic process would depend on changes in the United States’ approach, while US officials continue to say they remain open to negotiations if meaningful progress can be achieved.

The latest statement from Tehran underscores the continuing uncertainty surrounding diplomatic efforts, with both sides publicly maintaining opposing positions despite ongoing mediation by regional partners.
