General Dynamics expands TACLANE E-Series

General Dynamics Mission Systems has expanded its TACLANE E-Series portfolio, introducing a range of high-speed Ethernet encryption solutions designed to protect classified and mission-critical data across defence, intelligence and government networks.

The portfolio has been developed to address growing demand for higher bandwidth, lower latency and scalable encryption as organisations modernise enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments and multi-domain operations. The company says the platform has been designed to bridge crypto modernisation gaps while supporting future network growth.

High-speed encryption for modern defence networks

At the centre of the portfolio is the TACLANE Adaptable Security Platform (ASP), a modular hardware platform capable of supporting interchangeable cryptographic modules. The architecture enables organisations to increase encryption capacity without replacing existing infrastructure, allowing systems to evolve alongside operational requirements.

The platform supports user-replaceable cryptographic modules, including the TACLANE-ES100 and TACLANE-ES400, delivering encryption speeds of up to 100 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s respectively. When fully configured, the platform can provide up to 800 Gb/s full-duplex throughput, making it suitable for protecting high-capacity enterprise backbones, data centres and cloud environments.

General Dynamics says the modular design allows organisations to upgrade bandwidth and cryptographic capability as requirements change, reducing lifecycle costs while improving operational resilience.

Supporting enterprise and tactical environments

Alongside the enterprise-focused solutions, the TACLANE E-Series includes the TACLANE-ES10 (KG-185A), a ruggedised Layer 2 Ethernet encryptor designed for tactical deployments as well as fixed infrastructure.

The ES10 supports full-duplex throughput of up to 10 Gb/s and complies with the National Security Agency’s Ethernet Data Encryption Cryptographic Interoperability Specification (EDE-CIS). The encryptor is designed to secure classified information transmitted across Layer 2 Ethernet networks while supporting low-latency communications for mission-critical applications.

The system is compatible with both Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) and pre-placed key capabilities, allowing deployment across connected and disconnected operational environments. Management is provided through the company’s GEM One Encryptor Manager software, enabling centralised configuration, monitoring and lifecycle management.

Built for future crypto modernisation

General Dynamics says the TACLANE E-Series has been designed with scalability, maintainability and interoperability in mind as defence organisations continue transitioning towards higher-capacity digital infrastructure.

The company highlights reduced equipment footprint, user-serviceable components and redundant power capabilities as features intended to improve operational availability while simplifying maintenance. The platform has also been engineered to support future cryptographic upgrades through hardware modules and software enhancements, helping organisations adapt to evolving security requirements without replacing complete systems.

The TACLANE portfolio remains one of the most widely deployed families of Type 1 High Assurance encryptors, supporting secure communications across military, intelligence and government networks worldwide. The latest E-Series products extend those capabilities to high-speed enterprise environments while providing a pathway for future crypto modernisation.
