Lockheed Martin Showcases AI-Driven IAMD Battle Management

Lockheed Martin demonstrated a Guam Defense System (GDS) Battle Manager Suite breakthrough prototype in a simulated Guam operational environment. The prototype networks data from the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) weapon systems that will deploy to Guam, provides a single integrated air picture, applies artificial intelligence analytics and rapidly delivers fire direction recommendations to enable effective and efficient engagements.

This demonstration builds upon Lockheed Martin’s successful demonstration of rapid software-driven command and control integration at Valiant Shield 2026, highlighting a collaborative, cross-industry approach that brings together the best capabilities to achieve mission outcomes.

Background

Following a call from the U.S. Army for a GDS Battle Manager Suite solution in June 2026, Lockheed Martin earned an invitation to the phase 2 evaluation, a prototype demonstration at Army Tactical Systems Integration Lab in Fort Bliss, Texas. Less than two months later, Lockheed Martin’s prototype successfully integrated data and decision-making tools for multiple IAMD systems.

Innovating with Velocity

AI‑prioritized recommendations: The system continuously examined hundreds of tracks and recommends the best response for threats, enabling operators to process more information and make faster, more informed decisions
Common tactical picture: The system merged live data from IAMD systems, including Aegis Guam and IBCS, into one integrated view. This accelerates coordination by allowing commanders to view the entire joint operating area, including weapon inventory and engagement opportunity.
Rapid integration and real‑time updates: Through an open architecture , the suite rapidly integrated new software, pre-planned warfighter responses, Air Task Orders, Airspace Control Orders, IAMD planner defense designs and capabilities from defense-tech industry partners to adapt to changing battlefield conditions.
Fielded in one week: Within 24 hours of arrival, the system was integrated into the TSIL lab environment, meeting all demonstration criteria. This demonstrates Lockheed Martin’s ability to deliver solutions quickly for urgent operational needs.

Executive Perspective

“In missile defense, seconds can determine whether an operator protects a populated island or exhausts precious interceptors,” said Tiffany Marr, director CommandIQ®, Golden Dome for America C2 and Advanced Concepts at Lockheed Martin. “When you give commanders a single, real-time status of every sensor, weapon system, and munition loadout, then automatically recommend the optimal weapon for each incoming threat, they can make faster decisions, preserve ammunition and maximize protection of critical assets at machine speed.”

What’s New

Traditional IAMD battle management relies on operators juggling documents, voice calls, text message coordination and manual calculations, which are time-consuming and prone to error. Powered by CommandIQ®,, Lockheed Martin’s GDS Battle Manager Suite replaces those steps with AI driven, algorithmic shot selection informed by thousands of simulations. The result is giving operators machine speed decision making that can preserve high cost interceptors and optimize missile defense responses.
